April Swells

I love the mornings where I wake up on four hours of sleep and stumble out to the beach. On Tuesday April 19th, I woke up in the hopes of catching the sunrise and maybe some surf if the forecast actually held true.

I was treated to a double feature.

The sunrise was spectacular and some of Jersey's best were in the water on some beautiful back-lit head high barrels. Below are a little sampling of the photos I was able to capture.

April Update

It's been a really busy couple of weeks for me! I've been away from writing and facebook for longer than usual. Granted, it's been super busy at the day job, but I've also been working hard behind the scenes with my photography! But first, let me back track... A couple of years ago, my wife was a bridesmaid in her friend Megan's wedding. They were going to a bridal expo in Philly and she mentioned that it may be a good idea to tag along to meet some wedding photographers and do some networking. After walking around the expo for a little bit, we came across the booth of Caroline Morris ; A young, up and coming wedding photographer. We struck up a conversation. I don't remember much of what she and I talked about, but I remember thinking that she seemed cool and down to earth. We exchanged information and went on our ways. Andrew and Josefin's Sweden Wedding | Michael Guccione Photography

I'm in a car with Andrew, Josefin, and Josefin's father, Stanko. We're driving to a beautiful forested spot overlooking the Swedish coast in the town of Stenungsund, about 50 Kilometers north of Gothenburg. It's cloudy, windy, and raining. In a few hours Andrew and Josefin will be married. We are trying to get some portraits done, but the weather is not cooperating. I tell Andrew and Josefin, "I'm going to get as many shots as I can as quickly as I can. I'll try to get you back in the car fast so you don't get cold and wet." We pull up to the spot. We get out of the car and go to it. I pose them in as many positions as I can in 10 minutes. The wind is blowing rain onto my lens which I have to wipe every 10-15 seconds. Andrew and Josefin are great sports and endure the wind and rain with me to get the photos. We all get back in the car and I'm very pleased to have gotten a bunch of quality shots. Danae's Boyd Park Shoot

When Danae and I met up last Thursday to do our shoot, I couldn't believe my eyes when I pulled up next to her car. I looked over and saw a sea of long pastel green hair! Danae is a fashion and makeup blogger. We've known each other for several years having been coworkers at my last job. We've kept in touch since then and have done photo shoots together on several occasions. It's been really cool seeing the progression in her style choices as well as her comfortability behind the camera. Similarly, my skills as a portrait photographer have increased drastically since our first shoot.  For this shoot, we decided to meet at Boyd Park in New Brunswick which runs along the Raritan River.
